Our trip to the bergerie de Causse in St-Bauzille-de-Montmel was memorable in more ways than one! Here's the report, hot off the press!
Tout a commencé avec une série d'annulations samedi matin à cause de la pluie. Ca me fait encore bizarre, après mes années passées en Finlande et en Angleterre où les gens annulent moins facilement pour cette raison évidemment. Mais deux âmes courageuses étaient néanmoins au point de rendez-vous. Respect Jérémie et Janna!
It all started with a bunch of cancellations due to the rain. I still find that strange, after my years in Finland and England where people are less likely to cancel for such reasons, for obvious reasons. Nevertheless two brave souls were at the meeting point. Fair play Jérémie and Janna!
Comme vous le voyez, les fous rires ont démarré tout de suite!
As you can see, the laughter started immediately!
Et les bonnes nouvelles continuent quand Fritz m'appelle pour me dire que lui et ses deux potes allemands viennent après tout, et qu'ils nous rejoindront là-bas.
And we kept those smiles on our faces as we found out Fritz decided to come after all with his two German friends and that they'd meet us there.
On s'est donc mis en route à trois et comme il fallait pas se laisser abattre, on a fait des pauses whisky régulières.
We therefore headed off as a trio and since stopped for regular whisky breaks, you know, 'cause we could!
Et quand tout à coup, ça s'est levé, c'était l'extase, dans ces paysages décidément magnifiques.
And when the sun suddenly came out, it was bliss and we fully enjoyed these splendid landscapes.
Une fois arrivé à destination, on a décidé d'attendre les autres en faisant un petit repérage tout en apprenant de l'Hollandais inutile (merci Janna) et en débattant sur le sujet des monstres célèbres, sujet bien évidemment crucial et qui déboucha surtout sur l'explication de qui était la bête du Gévaudan.
Upon arrival, we decided to wait for the late arrivals by checking out our surroundings whilst learning stupid Dutch phrases (thanks Janna) et debating famous monsters (obviously), in particular the Beast of Gévaudan.

Comme la discussion sur les monstres a vite manqué d'allant, nous nous somme rabattus sur quels bruits d'animaux on savait bien faire. Janna sait pas faire grand chose, Charles fait pas mal l'éléphant, Jérémie très bien l'octodon et Georg fait particulièrement bien le cri de la femme.
Since the monster talk soon ran out of steam, we fell back on the more obvious "what animal noise can you imitate"? Janna can't really do any, Charles does a decent elephant, Jérémie does a mean octodon and Georg was particularly expert at the call of the woman.
En parlant d'allemands, ils sont arrivés pas si longtemps après nous. Comme vous pouvez le voir, on a quand-même un peu hésité avant de s'approcher les uns des autres.
Talking of German people, they arrived not so long after us. As you can see, we needed a few minutes adjustment before daring to approach each other.
Mais rien de tel qu'un feu, des merguez, de la bière, des chamallows et des cuillères-poivron pour mettre tout le monde à l'aise!
But nothing quite like a camp-fire, sausages, bear, marshmallows and red-pepper spoons to put everyone at ease!
Et au lit, dans la bergerie! Certains avec tente, d'autres sans! La nuit fut plutôt fraiche donc certains n'ont pas trop tarder à se lever la lumière venue!
And off to bed in the bergerie! Some with tents, others without! The night was rather fresh so some of us were more than happy to get up once the sun came up!
Après des réarrangements de bagages, c'est reparti!
After some luggage rearranging, it's off we go again!
La pluie a quand même finie par s'inviter pour notre trajet du retour. Pas bien grave quand on sait qu'une bonne douche chaude nous attends à l'arrivée!
The rain finally did come and kept us company for the cycle ride home, which doesn't matter so much once you know a nice warm shower awaits you shortly!
